Tuning

Light QoL only. Combat math, capture math, weight, and stamina all stay vanilla — the loop Pocketpair shipped is well-paced. The knobs below smooth the friction points that cost first-time players an evening.

Setting Server Vanilla Effect
Egg hatching 2 h 72 h No three-day wait on a Huge Egg
XP rate 1.5× 1.0× Light catch-up bump for weeknight players
Pal capture rate 1.5× 1.0× Same logic, applied to capture rolls
Collection drop 1.5× 1.0× Less repetitive gathering, crafting cost intact
Night speed 2.0× 1.0× Half-length nights; daytime untouched
Death penalty Items only Everything Drop your inventory, keep gear and Pals
Pal lost on death Off Off Pals never permanently die
Friendly fire Off Off Teammates can't damage each other
Invader raids Off On No random base raids; halves engine memory creep
Guild auto-decay Off Off Bases stay if you take a vacation

Schedule

When Event
Daily · 04:00 CT Server restart. In-game broadcasts at T−5 min, T−1 min, T−10 s. Save snapshot taken before stop. Back online within 60 s.
All other hours PvE only. Always on.

Once-daily is sufficient because invader raids are off — Pocketpair has acknowledged invader spawns as the dominant memory-leak source on dedicated servers, and disabling them roughly halves the creep.

Backups

Three tiers stacked, each closing the gap left by the next coarser one. A bad pull, a corrupted save, or a regretted decision rolls back to whichever tier matches the elapsed time.

Tier Cadence Coverage Method
1 30 s – 1 d tiered Engine in-process backup — 5×30s, 6×10min, 12×1h, 7×1d
2 Daily 14 d Full save tarball at restart
3 Daily 7 d System rsync with hardlinks

Security

The server is not on the public internet. Access is gated by a Tailscale (WireGuard) mesh — the public IP runs UFW deny-all on inbound, with the only exceptions being Tailscale's WireGuard handshake and mDNS. Game traffic binds to the Tailscale interface, never to the public NIC.

Public exposure None — UFW deny-all on public NIC
Game traffic Tailscale 100.127.87.32 only
Admin REST API Loopback only (127.0.0.1)
RCON Disabled (officially deprecated by Pocketpair)
SSH Key-only, no root, fail2ban
OS updates Unattended security patches, daily
Watchdog Hardware (IPMI) + kernel panic auto-reboot

Roadmap

No wipes planned. The save you're on now is permanent — bases, Pals, levels, all of it.

Phase What
Now This server runs Palworld 0.7.3 and tracks Pocketpair's Steam patches as they ship. No reset on patch.
v1.0 launch A second, fresh-world server stands up alongside this one and becomes the primary recommendation for new players.
After v1.0 This 0.7.x → 1.0 world stays online, patched, and supported as the legacy server for as long as people are still actively playing on it.

Translation — if you're invested in this world, keep playing. Nothing about your characters or progress is going away when v1.0 drops. The new server is added alongside, not instead of.
